Azure integration

To set up Azure integration to generate the alerts you want to send to the Incident Management endpoint, perform the following steps:

1. From the Azure console, click the menu icon in the upper left corner, and go to Monitor > Alerts. Click the Action Groups tab and then click Create.

2. From the Project Details dropdown menus, select a subscription and select or create a resource group.

3. Under Instance Details, enter an Action Group Name and a Display Name. Note that the display name is limited to 12 characters. Click Next: Notifications.

4. In the Actions tab, select Webhook as the action type from the dropdown and enter a webhook name.

   When the Webhook type is selected, a webhook configuration panel on the right displays. You will set the Incident Management endpoint in this panel.

5. Navigate to Incident Management Integrations > Inbound Integrations > Azure > your-Integration > Step 1 which contains the Incident Management Endpoint and API Key. Copy the endpoint URL.

6. Return to the Azure console and paste the Incident Management Endpoint into the webhook panel URI field.

7. In the Webhook panel, paste your Incident Management API key to the beginning of the URI field, after "https://", and add an "@" symbol between the API Key and the endpoint. The resulting URI should have this format:

   https://<API Key>@<Incident Management Endpoint URL>

   To create a new API key to use with your integration, follow the instructions in Manage API keys.

8. Click Yes to enable the common alert schema, then click OK.

9. Click Next: Tags; these settings are optional.

10. Click Test Action Group (Preview). Choose Resource Health Alert from the dropdown and click Test. Wait for a success message in Azure and click Done.

11. In Incident Management, verify that the test event arrived and has been cached in Integrations > Inbound Integrations > Azure > your-integration > Map Your Data. If the integration has been saved, it should change from Provisioned to Active status, and an alert should also appear in the Monitor > Alerts view.

12. In Azure, click Create, then click Refresh to load the configuration.

13. Navigate to Monitor > Alerts > Alert Rules. Create or choose the rules you want Incident Management to monitor, and add the newly created action group to each of those rules.
