Configure the Kafka Forwarder Integration

Configure the Kafka Forwarder integration in the Moogsoft Onprem UI by completing the following steps.

  1. Step 1: Navigate to the Integration Configuration

    1. Log in to Moogsoft Onprem.

    2. Navigate to the Integrations tab.

    3. In the Workflow Integration section, click Kafka Forwarder.

  2. Step 2: Configure Kafka Connections

    1. Click Add New Connection to create a Kafka connection.

    2. Enter a unique Connection Name (for example, production or default).

    3. Specify one or more Kafka Broker hostnames and ports.

    4. Select the required Compression codec (none, gzip, lz4, or snappy).

  3. Step 3: Configure Security (Optional)

    1. SSL Configuration

      1. Expand the SSL Configuration section.

      2. Enable Use SSL, if required.

      3. Provide the truststore and keystore file paths and passwords.

      4. Specify the SSL endpoint identification algorithm, if required.

    2. SASL Configuration

      1. Expand the SASL Configuration section.

      2. Enable Use SASL, if required.

      3. Select the SASL mechanism (PLAIN, SCRAM-SHA-256, SCRAM-SHA-512, OAUTHBEARER, or GSSAPI).

      4. Select the security protocol (SASL_PLAINTEXT or SASL_SSL).

      5. Provide the JAAS configuration string.

      6. For GSSAPI, configure the required Kerberos settings.

  4. Step 4: Configure Alert Maps

    1. Review the Default Alert Map configuration.

    2. Click Add New Alert Map to create custom routing rules.

    3. Configure CEvent filters for selective forwarding.

    4. Specify the target Kafka topics for each alert map.

    5. Define payload transformation rules using Moogsoft macro syntax.

  5. Step 5: Configure Situation Maps

    1. Review the Default Situation Map configuration.

    2. Enable or disable alert forwarding with situations, as required.

    3. Create custom situation maps with the appropriate filters.

    4. Define payload transformation rules for situations.

  6. Step 6: Configure Situation Thread Maps

    1. Configure the Default Thread Map for thread entry forwarding.

    2. Configure thread maps for audit trail requirements.

    3. Define transformation rules for thread entries.

  7. Step 7: Configure Global Defaults

    1. Configure the default Kafka connection.

    2. Specify the default Kafka topics.

    3. Configure the default alert forwarding behavior.

  8. Step 8: Save the Configuration

    1. Click Save to enable the integration.

    2. Verify that the integration status is Active.
