Ansible Tower integration

This integration ingests events from Ansible Tower and maps them to Moogsoft events.

This integration was validated with Ansible Tower Version 3.8.4 on October 4, 2021.

Create a new integration in Moogsoft Cloud

Log in to your Moogsoft instance.
Choose Integrations > Ingestion Services > Ansible Tower.
Click Add New Integration.
Define the Moogsoft Endpoint and API Description based on your business needs. Then click Save.
The UI displays the integration in a new page. Click Save at the bottom of the page.

The new integration includes a custom endpoint, a set of default mappings to convert Ansible Tower data to Moogsoft events, and a deduplication key to group similar events into alerts. You can now set up Ansible Tower to send data to this endpoint, as described in the following section.

(Optional) Once your endpoint starts receiving data from Ansible Tower, you can customize how the integration maps and deduplicates this data. For more information, read Use mapping types in custom integrations and Deduplicate events to reduce noise.

Configure your Ansible Tower instance

To set up Ansible Tower, perform the following steps:

From the Ansible Tower left panel menu, select Notifications.
On the Notifications page, click the green-boxed + symbol.
On the New Notification Template page, click add a Name to represent the Moogsoft endpoint, and a Description for the integration.
Set Type as webhook.
For Target URL, copy the Moogsoft Endpoint URL from the Ansible Tower Configuration Information section and paste it to this field.
In the HTTP Headers section, expand the entries to display the area to which you will add the Moogsoft API Key.
1. Open a separate browser tab or window and go to the configuration page for your integration: Moogsoft UI > Integrations > Ingestion Services > Ansible Tower > integration_name > Configuration Information
2. In the Ansible UI, paste your Moogsoft API key into the apiKey field.
  To create a new API key to use with your integration, follow the instructions in Manage API keys.
3. In the Ansible UI, define the Content-Type as application/json.
Set the Ansible Tower HTTP METHOD to POST.
Click Save.
Click Templates in the left pane menu, and then select "Demo Job Template."
Click the Notifications tab; the Moogsoft webhook template should be listed in the table.
Enable the Start, Successs and Failure buttons for the Moogsoft template.
Click the Details tab, then check Notifications to confirm Moogsoft is listed and all options are enabled.
Click the Jobs option in the left pane menu.
For the Moogsoft integration, click the rocket "Relaunch: icon; the Demo Job Template Status should indicate PENDING.
Navigate to the Moogsoft Integrations > Ingestion Services > Config Information window for Ansible Tower -- the tab should now indicate PROVISIONED.
Back at the Ansible Tower Jobs > Details page, click the rocket icon again; the status should now indicate RUNNING.
Back at the Moogsoft Integrations > Ingestion Services > Config Information window, scroll down to the Map Your Data area to review the Ansible Tower JSON payload; Status should now indicate that the integration ingestion is RUNNING.
Navigate back to the Ansible Tower Jobs page, and the Status should be indicating SUCCESSFUL, with 1 or 2 event payloads received.
From the Moogsoft Map Your Data area, note that the Description label in the Moogsoft Target Fields column now shows "Successful Job Template."
