Cookbook is a deterministic clustering algorithm in Moogsoft AIOps that creates Situations defined by the relationships between alerts.
You can configure Cookbook to group together alerts with specific characteristics such as temporal or topological proximity and cluster them into Situations. Examples of characteristics that Cookbook can filter include:
- Class or type
- Server priority
- Geographical location
- Environment classification
Each Cookbook is a collection of Recipes; sets of configurable filters, triggers and other calculations such as priority ordering and entropy threshold. A Cookbook can run multiple Recipes concurrently to process the incoming event stream and produce a variety of Situations.
Moogsoft AIOps can have multiple instances of moogfarmd running, each of which can multiple Cookbook algorithms running.
Create a Cookbook
Moogsoft AIOps is pre-configured with the Default Cookbook that is active when it starts for the first time.
You can create Cookbooks with more advanced features such as merging and Moobot-controlled Recipes via
$MOOGSOFT_HOME/config/moog_farmd.conf. For more information see Cookbook Reference.
