Welcome to Moogsoft AIOps, the latest version of our software which incorporates sleek and contemporary design with many exciting new features:

  • Teams are the focal point of the new design, facilitating communication with your peers and displaying the health of the Services you care about

Comparison V5 and V6

Here are the key improvements and differences between Moogsoft AIOps and its predecessor Incident.MOOG.

Moogsoft AIOps (Algorithmic Intelligence for IT Operations) is a complete redesign of Incident.MOOG which includes a number of new features as well as performance improvements. There are also a number of Incident.MOOG features which have not been carried across into AIOps.

UI Redesign

The UI has been redesigned with more a contemporary look and feel which takes advantage of newer browser and infrastructure capabilities. Example screenshots:

The theme of AIOps is now changed to 'Dark' or 'Light' by clicking the user icon menu in the top right corner and selecting Theme from the drop-down menu (previously you had to click user icon menu > Edit Profile... > Personalization). The 'Classic' theme has also been removed. The default theme is 'Dark'.

Menu Navigation

The main menu (hamburger icon) and navigation have been split across the top toolbar so now clicking Moogsoft will open the system and service overview.

The new apps menu icon  in the top right corner links to three apps: Workbench, Dashboard and System Settings.

The other main menu changes include the removal of Team Directory and Merge Situations as Team Rooms and Add to Merge... perform the same functions.


Clicking Workbench opens the default landing screen and working area where users will spend most of their time.

This screen includes the Side Menu and Summary with a Systems Overview, Team Rooms Overview and Services Overview.

The Side Menu links to Impacted Services, the Situations filters, the Alerts filters and Maintenance Schedule.

The System Overview displays key systems statistics such as the total number of impacted services, the total number of alerts and noise reduction. There is also an overview of your teams and any services that your teams are interested in.


The Dashboards link on the apps menu enables you to access the AIOps and Management Dashboards.

The functionality is very similar but the design has been updated. The background of each dashboard can be changed as before.

System Settings

The final link on the apps menu is to the System Settings screen which is the new name for System Administration.

The screen's UI has been redesigned slightly but has the same functionality.

User Menu

The icon for the user menu has changed so the user is now represented by the initial or initials of their login name instead of the Moogsoft cow logo. In the example below, 'Administrator' is represented by an 'A':

In the menu itself, all functionality is the same but the 'Restore Landing Page' option has been removed.

Team Rooms

Team Rooms replaces Team Directory and performs the same function.

This screen is accessible from the side menu of the Workbench screen.

There are several changes and improvements to the Situation Room. These include: 

Next Steps

The Situation Room has a new section called Next Steps.

This section includes the current status of the Situation and advice on the next step to take.


A new Comments section replaces the old discussion tab. 

This tab includes discussion and comments alongside any other changes to the Situation or activity such as a user taking ownership of a Situation or a user being assigned the Situation etc. 

This replaces the old Discussion tab which only showed a thread of user comments.


The Timeline has improved usability and now includes Situation activity markers.

New Task Board 

The new Kanban-style Task Board has been added for Teams which enables Teams to monitor and manage their workflow.

From this screen you can view all 'Opened', 'Assigned', 'In Progress' and 'Resolved' Situations and see which users are assigned to them or working on them at each stage.

If an 'Opened' Situation is assigned to your profile, you can click 'Acknowledge' to inform the Team you are working on the Situation and it is 'In Progress'. 

Improved Search

The search function has been improved, offering contextual search results on a new page. The new search results page is pictured below:

The search results can be adjusted to display 'Situations & Alerts', 'Situations Only' or 'Alerts Only'. You can still add a timeframe ('All Time', 'Created At' and 'Last Updated') for a number of days or date range.


The Message Centre has been replaced with Notifications which can be accessed by clicking the alarm bell icon  on the top toolbar.

It is now possible to configure what you are notified about using a number of options. These include:

Use System DefaultsThe default is to receive all of the notification types listed below: invitations, assignments and critical situations
InvitationsYou will receive notifications about invitations to a Situation
AssignmentYou will receive notifications when you have been assigned to a Situation
Critical Situations Assigned to My TeamYou will receive notifications when critical Situations are assigned to your Team

Live browser notifications are now supported so will appear in the top right corner of your screen if enabled. The screenshot below shows how notifications will appear in Google Chrome:

Clicking the Notifications icon will allow you to read the notifications as normal. Notifications can be marked as read by either clicking on them to visit the Situation or by using the tick.

A read notification will appear grayed out as shown below:

New Advanced Filter

The search filters for Situation and Alert Views have been updated so they offer both basic and advanced filtering.

The new version has two filtering options, 'Basic' and 'Advanced'. The 'Basic' filter uses column names and operators which autocomplete as the user types:

The 'Advanced' filter can be created using query syntax. E.g. For all Situations that are open and have a critical severity, the syntax is: Severity = 'Critical' AND Status = 'Opened'

The old filter in version 5, which allowed users to select pre-configured filters from a drop-down menu to produce filter results, is still available in the System Admin.

Merging Situations

The Merge Situations option has been removed from the main menu.

To merge Situations in AIOps, tag the Situations you want to merge, go to Tools and select Add to Merge... from the drop-down context menu.

Next click Merge Situations to continue:

The text shown below will appear to confirm the merger along with the new Situation number. Click Open Situation # to view it or click the 'X' button to close the window.

Double-Click Description Editing

It is now possible to edit the 'Description' of a Situation by double-clicking on the required field in the Description column. 

Once the cell has been clicked, you can type a new name or description as required and press Enter to save it.

Mobile Version (Beta)

As part of the latest release, AIOps is available for mobile devices. This is a Beta version and is disabled by default.

Examples of the mobile version of the login screen, open Situations view and an individual Situation are shown below:

To enable the AIOps mobile version, go to System Settings > Labs and click the checkbox next to 'Enable Mobile':

The mobile version can then be accessed by going to the same URL as your AIOps installation followed by "/mobile".
